Expertise in particle development
for research and industry

© Fraunhofer ISC

Particle technology at the Fraunhofer ISC focuses on the wet-chemical synthesis of tailormade small particles and their modification.

The offer includes processing, upscaling and formulation of compositions of particle systems. The (in-situ) analysis by means of high-end equipment and comprehensive material technology know-how complete the product portfolio.

A special research focus is on:

  • Magnetic particles
  • Silica particles
  • Titanium, zirconium, zinc and perovskite oxide particles
  • Capsules
  • Layer particles

From these primary particles, supraparticles can be built which combine several functions or properties, such as magnetism, electrical or thermal conductivity, luminescence, catalytic activity or flame retardancy.  Particle equipment not only improves material properties but opens up new applications as well.

The competence of particle technology is in use in the following areas:

  • Particulate additives
  • Functional surface coatings
  • Resources circuits
  • Product marker solutions
